The frequency of the resulting oscillation is called the\u00a0Brunt\u2013V\u00e4is\u00e4l\u00e4 frequency. The hot ionized\u00a0<em>plasma<\/em>, inside the donut-shaped nuclear fusion <em>tokamak<\/em>, typically rotates around its central axis. The resulting centrifugal forces, similar to the effect of gravity, cause similar oscillations as in the atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p>Through this effect rotation stabilizes and helps to keep the hot plasma confined.
